Meet Eric | Featured Student

Eric Yaw is an incredibly sweet, kind, brilliant and competitive young man. He is the first of our high school scholarship recipients to be eligible for university based on his academic success in one of Ghana’s top senior high schools. (We are all eagerly awaiting the news of whether he was accepted!) His hard work and school dedication are among some of his top attributes, but Eric is no different than any other teenage boy. His quick wit, love for sports and ornery personality make Eric such a joy to be around.

During the past trip Eric was given a few questions to fill out and answer about himself. Here is what Eric had to say… (none of his answers were changed)

What do you desire out of life?

I want to use my life for a lot of things that are vital to the world and also to my country Ghana as well. The first thing I want to use my life for is to impact moral teaching in others by sharing the word of God with them in every place, especially in school and on Campus.

Secondly, I want to set up a legacy so that the upcoming ones will follow the path. How can I set up this legacy? By obeying elders and also complying to every rule and regulation governed by any organization or institution I find myself part of.

Thirdly, I want to lay down my life to take care of the poor and needy like me, by establishing an orphanage in the next 5 years to come after I have completed university. Because there are a lot of people out there who are brilliant and intelligent but have nowhere to stay and to school because of their poverty. I want to be able to take care of them in the future by providing them with everything like how Ghana Childrens Fund has done for me and my friends in the Good Shepherd Orphanage.

How has GCF benefited you?

Ghana Children’s Fund is an organization that I, Eric Yaw Biakpor, will never forget in my life. Ghana Children’s Fund has really helped me a lot, especially with my schooling. They have provided all my needs when I was schooling from SHS 1 to SHS 3 and now I am about to enter into university this September. I am proud of this organization especially Madam Lisa Tuttle, Madam Molly and my sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Zech. I will continue to pray for promotion and success for this organization .

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is the Holy Bible. Because the bible teaches me a lot and the bible has let me know that everything you need to become a good person is in there.

Who is your favorite football team?

My favorite football team is Manchester United. I like their style of play and I love their coach Luis Van Gaal, who is their current coach now.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is "What Life Took from Me”. I really love this movie because it is full of wisdom and understanding, It also educates we, the young ones, not to fall in love at our age.
